The IDA Community Development Corporation

The IDA Community Development Corporation (IDA CDC) is a non-profit corporation that was established in September 1994 by Improved Dwellings for Altoona, Inc., (IDA) and is a tax exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  IDA CDC was formed in order to assist low and moderate-income persons to secure adequate and decent housing; develop financial aid and mortgage programs that provide assistance to those unable to acquire financing in the conventional market; research and study neighborhood shelter needs and make recommendations to complement programs that improve the physical nature of these communities; provide for the construction and rehabilitation of housing either independently or through cooperation with other agencies; broaden community development efforts to deal with a multitude of neighborhood needs and work in deteriorating neighborhoods in an effort to combat community deterioration.  IDA CDC received its status as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) in 1998.
